The fifth event of the international series of conferences of the World Sustainability Forum (WSF) took place in Basel in Switzerland from 07. to 09. September this year. The project SANDY was presented by Elias Naber (KIT) in the theme block 'Urbanization and Cities: Sustanable Retrofitting of Buildings' with the presentation 'Homeowner Targeted Policy Instruments to Overcome Barriers for Energy Efficiency Retrofits in Residential Buildings in Germany.' The concept of the research project as well as the different methods used were presented. The WSF2015 lasted three days and hosted about 350 scientists from 45 nations, which presented about 220 presentations. The Forum was organized by the MDPI and was supported by the magazine Sustainability.
The symposium under the topic ‘Energy efficiency and sustainability: Buildings and climate protection – new challenges of municipalities’ took place on 24.04.2015 in Hamm, where professor Dr.
Michael Hiete gave a short presentation on the project SANDY. In addition to selective strategies for implementation of energetic retrofits in quarters, supportive programs on community level
were introduced and newsin the area of energetic retrofits, especially for buildings, were presented. The symposium was organized by the Öko-Zentrum NRW in cooperation with the Städte- and
Gemendebund NRW, the Kommunal Agentur NRW and the EnergieAgentur NRW.
A first common meeting with project parties and representative of the city of Baunatal took place in the city hall of Baunatal on 13.04.2016. Prof. Dr. Michael Hiete introduced the research
project and its long term aims to the first councilor Silke Engler, Jürgen Grimm as representative of the municipal energy supplier and the energy agent Johannes Möller. The city of Baunatal
would like to set the focus on increasing the willingness to retrofit of the citizens and improving the connections between the single actors of a retrofitting process. The Baunataler Nachrichten
